Today, the Congressional Budget Office released an interactive tool for analyzing the effects of certain Social Security policies. The tool is one of many products that CBO has provided to policymakers and analysts so that they can assess the effects of different policies on the budget.

The policies included in the tool were also described in Options for Reducing the Deficit: 2019 to 2028, which CBO released in December 2018. The tool lets users select different combinations of those policies and see the effect on the finances of the Social Security system, as well as the impact on different groups of people.

In the future, we hope to expand the tool to include more policy options. CBO continually seeks feedback to make its work as useful and transparent as possible. Please send any feedback to communications@cbo.gov.
