CBO was established to give the Congress a stronger role in budget matters. The agency provides analysis of budgetary and economic issues that is objective and impartial. It is strictly nonpartisan and does not make policy recommendations.
Various analyses of health care figure prominently in supporting the Congressional budget process, including ongoing analyses of insurance coverage and health care spending; reports on a single-payer system, drug prices, and other topics; and analyses of legislation.
